I want to know how do the lawyer take his percentage out of the settlement. There are three people injury in one accident so do the lawyer takes his 25% fee from each person’s settlement. My husband, son, and me got into a car accident. Do he takes out his 25% from each of our settlement or do he take one 25% out of total amount of our settlement combine?

In UK there is often a no win no fee arrangement in which case he can charge what he can get from the losing side. therefore it is not something for you to bother about and in any case the losing side pays reasonable costs which can be disputed via what is known as a taxation hearing (nothing to do with income tax) but lawyers hate them and the disputing side pays for them and both sides regard it a a bl–dy nuisance .
Each action will have an agreement with the lawyer and that will tell you if a percentage arrangement is an option or a fixed fee. It is not as unreasonable as it sounds because each claimant will have differing injuries and differing loss of earnings etc. all of which will have to be agreed or approved.

Average is 1/3. The fees generally range from 30-40%, but 1/3 is the most common.

Note, this is significantly higher than they make on an hourly basis due to the significant risk they end up with nothing at all after they’ve fronted the litigation costs.

I had 1 years no claims bonus and had an accident around 6 months into my second year. I had the accident and claimed and know I will not get any no claims this year. At renewal time do I actually still have my 1 years no claims and also state I have and accident? I’m not sure if I still keep my previous no claims of one year? Or do I now state I have 0 years no claims and had an accident?

Please help!

yes im afraid you will have lost your no claim bonus if it is a fault accident or claim.Unless you protect which you can only do on 5 years no claims. In theory you could have 4 years no claim bonus unprotected and lose them by just 1 fault accident.
