Our daughter fell ill shortly after birth. During birth she contracted a bacteria, GBS. She experience late onset of the disease. It turned to Meningitis, and caused a stroke. She is now blind, her brain is severely damaged, and her muscle tone is low. The whole thing could have been prevented had my doctor given the antibiotics that were administered the whole 4 hours to work instead of speeding along my labor.
Our attorney has had our records for 6 months. The hospital withheld part of our records 3 different times. We have a meeting next week. Does this mean we have a case? Would our attorney waste the time of a meeting to just let us down gently?
There is no way to know, but my sense is that your attorney is going to be giving you the pros and the cons of moving forward - otherwise, he wouldn’t be meeting with you in person. Either that, or the hospital has made an offer to settle that he wants to discuss with you. My guess is that it’s not going to be great news - but it doesn’t sound as though it will be awful news either. (In either of those scenarios, the attorney would likely just tell you on the phone.)
Why didn’t you simply ask the attorney for the reason for the meeting? You can also call the office and ask for this information.

My mom died of lung cancer. She may have had more time if her doctor hadn’t failed to diagnose and treat within a reasonable amount of time (1 year 8 months before any treatment!).
with this little detail i wouldnt call that malpractice…..

My wife had a medical procedure done (injection in her neck) where the most common risk is a dural puncture or "Wet tap." This is a .1-5% chance. She’s had multiple blood patches and no relief. The doctor has kinda blown off her follow up and after care. She has severe spinal headaches and is almost incapacitated and my have to go on disability. This has been on-going for almost two months now. She still is waiting to see a neurosurgeon. I am her husband and I am extremely upset. What is our recourse against this doctor that did this to her? I know this is not detailed medical info, but do we have a lawsuit here? I hope an attorney can give us some kind of idea. We live in Ypsilanti,MI
Most malpractice attorneys will give you a free consultation. I think a local malpractice attorney could let you know better than anyone on yahoo, answers. My general opinion is if the doctor did something negligent than you could have recourse, but it is dependent on the state, the circumstances, and the paperwork your wife my have signed to waive her rights.

I had cosmetic surgery in mexico and was release from their care 2 liters low of blood. I then a few days later was rushed to the ER and was told I had a Blood clot in my right lung due to the surgery and have been treated for this for over 6 months. I am now wondering what my legal rights are.
Was it worth what ever money you saved by doing it in mexico?

I busted my thumb driving a few months ago, an orthopaedic surgeon was recommended to me and he thought my best option was to undergo surgery. Now my thumb is even worse than it ever was and I can’t work. Where should I go to get some help to deal with my financial problems?
First you need to find another ortho surgeon who will certify that your problem is due to medical malpractice. Then you need to find a medical malpractice attorney who will handle your issues.

Medical Malpractice question - 2 week old baby?
We got a prescription from the doctor at the hospital for our two week old daughters acid reflux and we had it filled at Walgreen’s. A week and a half later we brought her to the doctor for a follow up and found out that the pharmacist at Walgreen’s had filled the script wrong and we had been giving her 30 times the amount she was supposed to be getting per day!!!
Well the company that represents Walgreen’s called last night and offered us $1,000 if we would sign off saying that Walgreen’s was no longer liable for anything that happens in the future relating to the overdose. So we have to get an attorney to figure out where to go from here because if we signed off on that and she has problems in the future, insurance wont cover it because it is a pre-existing condition. My cousins son had the same issue and he now has developmental disabilities, but they arent sure if that was caused due to the overdose.
Any advice on where to go and what to do from here??
Do not sign anything. Talk to your doctor about the potential long-term effects of the over-medication, and talk to a lawyer about your rights. Since this happened to a child, you may have until the child is 18 to proceed against Walgreens. Wait until you know if she will have problems as a result (I pray she doesn’t). Usually when someone is offering money right away, it’s because they know they are on the hook for a lot more and they hope you’ll get excited about their offer and not investigate further.

the doctors are sticking together like glue blocking me any way they can.using old conditions to cover up new one.i even have a tape that is proof they are lieing about the quality of tape i know tape was copied off newly installed computer equipment from pa. university hospital.need hungry lawyer or aggressive one who has gumption to battle the medical system willing to give more then usual if anyone is willing to demand justice and champion for me.it will be hard but a good attorney can do it please find it in your heart to correct this wrong this one doctor has done and maybe he wont be able to harm another it seems they the other dr. dont care about a bad apple spoiling the rest in the barrel.they are all criminals to me for not keeping there oath to heal and protect against wrong medical practices.the only god to them is the american dollar not the welfare of there patients.its a sad sad world we live in when money rules and people are treated like theres always another patient
