The worker’s comp systems and OSHA interact, but are separate. OSHA only immediately steps in if there is a fatality. OSHA does get involved when they do inspections or if someone calls them. It is up to each employer to determine the hazards in their company. So in this case, you employer has decided that the current situation the rules they have in place are satisfactory.

Now you can contact OSHA, but in this situation, your employer will probably know it is you when OSHA contacts them (see reference for OSHA contact form). You may want to do two things first. Talk to your employer again about your ideas to make things safer. Also, why they don’t change. That is info OSHA will want to know. Second, call your regional OSHA office anonymously (third reference) and talk to them.

Remember, if OSHA gets involved, your boss may get upset and retaliate against you. So make sure your work record is good and that your accident is not going to be traced back to being your fault.

OSHA will not get involved with your WC claim at all. OSHA’s mandate is safety enforcement - not processing of injury claims. If you wish to file a complaint, then do so.

You can always fire the attorney. If you get another attorney, and a settlement, the first attorney and the second will hash out how much each gets of your settlement assuming this is contingency based.

There is no way to know, but my sense is that your attorney is going to be giving you the pros and the cons of moving forward - otherwise, he wouldn’t be meeting with you in person. Either that, or the hospital has made an offer to settle that he wants to discuss with you. My guess is that it’s not going to be great news - but it doesn’t sound as though it will be awful news either. (In either of those scenarios, the attorney would likely just tell you on the phone.)

Why didn’t you simply ask the attorney for the reason for the meeting? You can also call the office and ask for this information.

There are a million reasons why some attorney would want to meet with his clients. Keeping the client informed, for instance. i cannot guess why this particular lawyer wants this particular meeting with this particular client.

Actually the local bar association can give more help with this. I would recommend one who specializes in his type injury first off. Avoid one who overly advertises but instead has a good reputation with the bar. A good lawyer requires some research.
