Clarification of the Petition by Tim Mulcahy (November 18, 2008)
I want to clarify my Petition. It was for Zero Alcohol and for speeding where demerit points are lost, the link is www.tylermulcahy.com so you can understand my petition. Zero alcohol has been put forth, but the speeding law has not yet been decided. Over 7500 people have signed my petition in 4 months. Most are parents or grandparents. There is a video and song on there that may be of interest. I reviewed the statistics today with the Minister of Transportation and they overwhelmingly point to the age group discussed having a much higher death rate due to alcohol and speed. The single passenger law to age 19, (excluding siblings), was not on my petition, but was petitioned by another family whose son died, and statistics do prove that fatal and bad injury accidents are much higher in these incidents. I am sure there are many safe drivers in this age category, and I understand your concerns but there are also many young drivers who are not safe drivers as well. These laws will be discussed before being put in place and you can petition your local MPPS to do what is right based upon facts and public opinion.

Auto Insurance Companies Deny Claims Statewide (Ohio)

Families across Ohio are finding gaps in their auto insurance policy only after they are in tragic accidents. Many insurance companies are using the term “Intrafamily Exclusion” to explain that if an accident was the client’s fault, then their family is not completely covered. Clients disturbingly only discover this after a major accident has occurred, resulting in injury or death to their family members.
Peter Traska, an attorney with Elk & Elk who specializes in appealing these types of cases said “very often, it’s a family dealing with a catastrophic loss. And when they have an accident, it’s too late.”
