Months or years, unless they are really keen to close the matter.
The claim would generally be covered by the companies liability insurance and will support herds of lawyers on both sides for much time as your side tries to justify wads of dosh, and the Insurance company tries to minimise its liability and shift at least partial blame onto you.
Meanwhile HSE will be investigating procedures, who did what etc…
