They try to say they won't cover you because you didn't report it. What your daughter should do is contact the other insurance company and have them come and repair the car. You can always say you expected them to contact you. But your insurance company will give you a problem, but you were insured, so regardless you are covered. You can always appeal any decision they may try to say. Or arbitrate it. Your insurance company, itself, may have a deadline, to file a claim, but you should be o.k., as far as sueing the offending party, for damages....
